AEO and local search for Nashville businesses.
Answer engine optimization is the work of getting your business named when somebody asks ChatGPT, Google AI or Perplexity who to call in Nashville. It is newer than local SEO, far less crowded, and most Nashville businesses are completely absent from it. We work both, because customers use both.
Tristar Marketing Solutions is an AEO and local search agency in Murfreesboro, thirty-five minutes from downtown Nashville. Our prices, our research and our results are published on this site, and you can see where your business stands before you talk to anybody.
Search stopped being a list of links. Answers replaced them.
When somebody asks an AI tool for a recommendation, they do not get ten blue links and a chance to pick. They get a short answer naming two or three businesses. If you are not one of them, you were not shortlisted, and unlike a Google result there is no page two to be found on.
Answer engine optimization is the work of being one of the named businesses. It overlaps with local SEO but is not the same thing, and a business can rank perfectly well on Google while being entirely invisible to AI tools.
Local service businesses we measured appeared in all three places customers now check: Google search, the map pack, and AI answers. Every one already ranked in their map pack. One in five appeared in only one place.
Source: Tristar 2026 Local Visibility Study, 64 businesses, eight trades, four metros. Method and raw data. That gap between “ranks on Google” and “gets named by AI” is the entire opportunity, and right now in Nashville very few businesses are working it.
What we have done, with the numbers published.
Most agencies describe AEO. We measure it, on our own site first. Three results, each on a page you can read in full.
Named by Google’s AI answer
In August 2026 Google’s AI Overview for “nashville aeo services” cited this site, and the AI Overview for “window tint marketing agency” cited our window tint page. We check the answers the way a customer asks them and report who gets named.
How we measure itSearch position 48 to 10
A marine dealer’s average search position went from 48 to 10, with every number pulled live from Search Console and Google Analytics, not a rank tracker.
Read the case study$31.77 to $13.32 per real lead
Tint Guy LLC in Murfreesboro: cost per verified form lead fell from $31.77 to $13.32 over three months, leads from 17 to 42 a month, on a budget that moved by $19. We count a form that lands or a call that lasts, never a tap on a phone number.
Read the case studyNashville is competitive on Google and wide open on AI.
Nashville has grown fast enough that the local search results look like a much larger city. National franchises, well funded regional operators and lead platforms all compete for the same map pack, and a small business trying to break into the top three for a competitive service term is fighting uphill against budgets it cannot match.
The AI answer layer does not work that way yet. It is early, the field is thin, and the businesses being named are frequently not the ones with the biggest ad budgets. They are the ones whose information is structured, consistent and clear enough for a language model to trust and repeat.
That is a genuine, temporary advantage for a business willing to do the work before the rest of the market notices. We do not know how long it lasts. We do know it is open right now.
What answer engine optimization actually involves.
There is a lot of noise in this category, so here is the plain version of what moves it.
Structured, machine-readable facts
Schema markup that states what you do, where you do it, and how to reach you in a form a model can parse without guessing.
The foundationContent that answers real questions
Pages written to answer what people actually ask, in their words, directly, near the top. Models quote answers, not brochures.
Answer firstConsistency everywhere you exist
Name, address, phone, services and hours matching across your site, your profile and every directory. Contradictions make a model drop you.
Unglamorous, decisiveReviews and third-party signals
What others say about you feeds what AI says about you. Reviews are training data now, not just social proof.

What an AEO engagement with us looks like, in order.
Week one: the baseline
We run the same check you can run free: Google, the map pack and four AI assistants, for the questions your customers ask. You get the list of who is named instead of you. That list is the plan.
Weeks two to four: the facts
Your Business Profile, your site and every directory say the same thing: services, areas, hours, phone. Schema on the site states it in a form a model reads without guessing.
Month two: the answers
Pages that answer the questions from week one, in the words people use, answer first. Each one is written to be quoted, not to be long.
Month three on: the record
Reviews that mention the service and the town, and a monthly report that says who got named this month, what changed, and how many calls and leads came in. Not impressions.
Month to month, published prices, nothing to cancel. See what things cost, or book 30 minutes and we will look at your market together.
AEO is not a replacement for local SEO. It is the layer on top.
We would rather say this plainly than sell you something lopsided. The map pack still drives the majority of calls for most local service businesses in Nashville today. If you are invisible there, that is the first problem to solve, not AI.
What is true is that AI referrals are growing quickly, they are cheaper to win right now than a competitive map pack position, and the work that improves AI visibility largely improves traditional search at the same time. Structured data, consistent information and content that answers real questions help both.
So the sensible order is usually: fix the foundation, win the map pack, then build the answer layer. If somebody is selling you AEO while your Google profile is a mess, they are selling you the roof before the walls.

Nashville and the surrounding markets.
Middle Tennessee is a set of distinct search markets, not one. Each town has its own results and its own competition, and a business ranking well in Nashville proper does not automatically appear in Brentwood or Franklin.
| Market | What it looks like in search |
|---|---|
| Nashville | Most competitive in the region, national and franchise operators present |
| Brentwood | Affluent, high job values, noticeably thinner competition than Nashville |
| Franklin | Its own established market, rarely covered well by Nashville businesses |
| Hendersonville and Gallatin | Growing quickly, still winnable |
| Murfreesboro and Rutherford County | Where we are based. Covered separately |
If you serve several of these, each one deserves a real page rather than a copy with the town name swapped. Thin location pages are the most common wasted effort we find in a local audit, and Google has been discounting the pattern for years.
Four things we put in writing.
You own all of it
Site, content, logins, ad accounts, profile. Leave whenever and it goes with you.
Calls and jobs, not impressions
If a number cannot help you decide something, it does not belong in your report.
A person, by name
Call the number and John picks up. No ticket queue, no rotating rep.
Month to month
No annual lock-in, no exit fee.
Prices are published, all of them. See what things cost.
What Nashville owners ask about AEO.
Is AEO real, or is it just SEO with a new name?
It is real, and it overlaps heavily with SEO. The honest version: perhaps three quarters of the work is good SEO fundamentals done carefully, and the remaining quarter is genuinely specific to how language models select and repeat information.
Anyone telling you it is completely new is overselling. Anyone telling you it is nothing is not paying attention. Both are wrong in the same direction.
How do I know if AI tools mention my business?
Ask them. Open ChatGPT, Google AI or Perplexity and ask who they would recommend for your service in your town, the way a customer would phrase it. Do it a few times, because answers vary.
Our free check does this across four AI tools alongside Google and the map pack, and texts you a link to the result.
Should I do AEO before I fix my Google profile?
No. The map pack still drives most calls for local service businesses today. Fix the profile first. The good news is that most foundation work helps both, so it is not wasted time.
Who does AEO in Nashville?
Tristar Marketing Solutions, based in Murfreesboro, thirty-five minutes from downtown Nashville. Most Nashville SEO agencies now list AEO as a line item. The difference here is that it is measured: which assistant named you, for which question, and what changed this month, with the method published and the first check free.
One person, John Wiser, does the work and answers the phone. Prices are published and every engagement is month to month.
How long before AI tools name my business?
The facts and the schema are read within weeks. Being named for a specific question usually takes one to three months once the profile, the site and the reviews agree with each other. Nobody can promise a named answer, because the assistants change what they say, so we report what was named each month and what moved it.
Do you only work with Nashville businesses?
No. We are based in Murfreesboro and work with local service businesses across the country, from Washington State to Virginia. Middle Tennessee is home, not a limit.
What does it cost?
All pricing is published on this site, including what is included at each level. Look without talking to anybody.
