Ceramic coating ads and PPF ads: what a click costs, why the first leads are slow, and the negatives that save the budget
Ceramic coating ads and PPF ads pay when each service has its own campaign, its own landing page and its own negative keyword list, because Google does not know that "ceramic coating" means a car until you tell it. Google's October 2026 estimates put a click on "ceramic coating near me" at $2.72 to $12.90 and a click on "paint protection film near me" at $3.47 to $21.00. The coating campaign we built for Tint Guy LLC, a Ceramic Pro Elite dealer in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, went live on October 13, 2026 and paid $3.94 a click in its first eight days. This guide is how that campaign is built, what it cost so far, and what we expect it to do, written while it is still new so the numbers are honest rather than flattering.
Every figure here comes from Google Ads itself, from Google's Keyword Planner or from the shop's record. The campaign is eight days old at the time of writing. A page that quotes a coating cost per lead from a campaign that young is guessing.
What a ceramic coating or PPF ad click costs
| Search | Searches a month (US) | Top-of-page bid range, October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| ceramic coating near me | 33,100 | $2.72 to $12.90 |
| ceramic coating cost | 2,900 | $2.12 to $9.50 |
| paint protection film near me / ppf near me | 27,100 | $3.47 to $21.00 |
| ppf installer near me | 3,600 | $3.14 to $21.77 |
| window tinting near me, for comparison | 368,000 | $2.10 to $8.47 |
A PPF click costs two to three times a tint click because the job is worth five to ten times as much. That is the whole argument for separate campaigns: inside one tint campaign, a $15 film click looks like a disaster next to a $2 tint click, and the system starves the campaign's best work.
What the first eight days of a coating campaign look like
Tint Guy LLC's ceramic coating campaign was built on October 12, 2026 and switched on October 13: Search only, 13 keywords (eight phrase match, five exact), a 30-mile presence-only radius, manual cost per click, $15 a day, and its own landing page with a quote form tagged to the campaign so every lead is counted on its own. Our September 2026 research for the build found about 1,500 ceramic coating searches a month in the Nashville area and no paid ads from any Murfreesboro shop.

Zero leads in week one is not a verdict. A coating is a researched purchase: the buyer compares installers, warranties and prices over days, and the first clicks are that research. We grade the campaign at 30 days on leads, never on quality score or click-through rate, because a 2026 test on this same account proved quality score does not move leads. What we did change in week two was the negative list and the ad, below.
The negative keywords that save a coating budget
"Ceramic coating" means cookware, tile, grills, boats and RVs to Google until the campaign says otherwise, and "ceramic tint" means window film to the person typing it. Tint Guy LLC's campaign launched with 45 phrase-match negatives carrying all of those, and twelve more were added on October 21 from the first week's search terms. On the shop's tint campaign, "ceramic tint near me" and "ceramic window tint near me" had been zero-lead search terms more than once, which is how we knew to wall the two services off from each other before the coating campaign spent a dollar.
Start your list with: cookware, pan, tile, grill, boat, rv, diy, kit, spray, bottle, "how to", near me plus a product brand you do not sell, and ceramic tint. Then read the search terms report every week for the first month and add what shows up.
Why a coating campaign needs its own landing page
The page the click lands on has to answer the coating buyer's questions, not the tint buyer's: what the coating is, what it protects against in plain words, what the warranty covers, what it costs installed on the vehicles the shop sees most, and how to get a quote. Tint Guy LLC's coating page carries its own form, tagged to the campaign, so the lead is counted against the coating spend and nothing else. In October 2026 the page added a winter section, because the owner's own customers were asking about protecting paint through salt and road grime.
A word on claims. Ceramic Pro's own warranty says road salts can cause adverse effects and tells owners to wash more often. So the ad and the page say the coating is hydrophobic and chemical resistant and grime rinses off easier. Never "salt-proof", never "protects against salt". A claim the manufacturer's warranty contradicts is a refund waiting to happen.
PPF ads: the same build at a higher price
Paint protection film gets exactly the same treatment: its own campaign, its own page, its own form, its own negative list (the film brands you do not install, "diy", "roll", "kit", "how to"). The click costs more and the lead is worth more, so the lines you hold are higher. On a $2,000 front end, a $100 lead that closes one in four is $400 a job in ads, which most shops would take every day. Write the line for PPF before the campaign runs and judge it only against PPF leads.
What to do this week
- If coating or film keywords are inside your tint campaign, pause them there and give them a campaign of their own with a budget you can afford to watch for 30 days.
- Build the landing page with its own form, tagged so the lead counts against that campaign.
- Load the negative list above before the first dollar.
- Hold two lines per service, warning and pause, written from the job's ticket.
- Read the search terms report every week for the first month.
The method for the tint side of the account, with three months of numbers, is in window tint advertising: what a lead should cost. What we do for tint, PPF and ceramic coating shops and what each package costs are on one page. If you would rather have us read your account first, book 30 minutes with John and bring your monthly ad spend and last 30 days of leads.
Questions coating and film shops ask about this
What does a ceramic coating ad click cost?
Google's October 2026 estimates put a click on "ceramic coating near me" at $2.72 to $12.90 in the United States, with 33,100 searches a month, and "ceramic coating cost" at $2.12 to $9.50. On the ceramic coating campaign we run for Tint Guy LLC in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the first eight days (October 13 to 20, 2026) cost $3.94 a click: 27 clicks on 622 impressions for $106.29.
What does a PPF ad click cost?
More than a coating click, because the job is worth more. Google's October 2026 estimates put "paint protection film near me" and "ppf near me" at $3.47 to $21.00 a click with 27,100 searches a month, and "ppf installer near me" at $3.14 to $21.77 with 3,600. A PPF front end is a $1,500 to $2,500 job in most markets, so a $15 click can be the best money in the account.
Why does my ceramic coating campaign have clicks but no leads?
Because a coating is a researched purchase. The buyer compares installers, warranties and prices over days, so the first clicks are the research and the lead arrives later. Tint Guy LLC's new ceramic campaign took 27 clicks in its first eight days with no lead, which is normal at that stage. Judge it at 30 days on leads, after the negative list has stopped it paying for cookware, tile and ceramic tint searches.
Should ceramic coating and PPF be in the same campaign as window tint?
No. The clicks cost different amounts and the jobs are worth different amounts. A $250 tint job and a $2,000 PPF front end cannot carry the same cost per lead. Each service gets its own campaign, its own landing page and its own ceiling.
